In NW Zambia, Sam Livingston has been looking back over his 9 months at Nyangombe. As a youth worker, he has become increasingly aware of major issues affecting young people in Zambia today. He has written about ‘the curse of fatherlessness’. Girls growing up in homes without a father can have lower self-esteem, which can lead to teenage pregnancy or early marriage. Boys growing up without the role model of a father can show more signs of aggression. (These problems aren’t confined to Zambia!) Sam is using every opportunity – youth camps, Bible studies, discipleship programmes – to teach young people about God our heavenly Father, His unconditional love, and the importance of fatherhood in human families.
