Daniel Habtey, an Eritrean pastor based in Huddersfield, is a CAM partner who is helping Eritreans and other displaced people in UK. He has been in Ethiopia for nearly 2 weeks now, meeting with government officials to discuss better ways of supporting Eritrean refugees in the country. However, yesterday, 8 July, was a historic day – ‘the best day for Eritrean people,’ Daniel explains, ‘as the Prime Minister of Ethiopia went to Asmara [the capital of Eritrea] to end the hostility and he has now officially reconciled with the Eritrean government.’ This is great news, as there had been hostility between these two nations since the border war broke out in 1998. Praise God! Pray for lasting peace. Pray for Daniel, as he has many great opportunities to influence people in ‘high places’.
